Long before Detroit Lakes became a haven for summer tourists, Becker County was a gold mine for the timber industry. This week, area filmmakers and the Becker County Museum are premiering a film, called Timber: Dead and Down. It documents those historic years in this region’s history.

Fargo businessman Jeff Schlossman along with the Becker County Museum worked with Filmmaker Tom Tollefson and Director Kirk Roos to re-tell the stories of that timber time.
